Course objectives
The aim of this seminar is to acquaint students with the work of selected contemporary Czech women writers, their work will be put into a wider historical and sociocultural context, and also the literary critical and social reflexion of these writers will not be left aside. The focal point of this course will consist of working with particular texts, that the students will analyse and present and they will also attempt to carry out a narratology interpretation of the works, the aim of the consequent discussion in the class is to try to reach certain generalizing results about the text specificity, its genre classification and an overall placement of the text within the contemporary Czech prose.
Syllabus
  • Theoretical basis, fundamental literary theoretical terms definition;
  • outline of the contemporary Czech women writers literary production;
  • analysis and interpretation of selected literary texts;
  • working with gained interpretive outputs of particular publications, their comparison, general conclusions.
