- Předmět je vhodný i pro studenty všech (i nemateřských) oborů, kteří se chtějí dozvědět více o současné Makedonii. Není nutná znalost makedonštiny.
- Výuka se koná jednou za dva týdny, na přeskáčku s výukou předmětu BKA255 Současná Bosna a Hercegovina. Doporučuji studentům, aby si zapsali oba předměty.

- Course objectives
- Geographic, political, social and economic characteristics of the Republic of Macedonia (RM). On successful completion of the course student will acquire necessary knowledge and arguing skill on the Macedonian life and institutions as well as to the political development and cultural specifics of this country.
- Learning outcomes (in Czech)
- Student se seznámí s reáliemi, kulturními specifiky a politicko-společenským vývojem této země od rozpadu Jugoslávie do současnosti. Zároveň poodhalí historicko-kulturní pozadí makedonské otázky, respektive příčiny výjimečného konfliktního potenciálu, který se s oblastí Makedonie pojí od 19. století do dnešních dnů. Absolvent bude o těchto záležitostech schopen argumentovaně diskutovat.
- Syllabus
- 1) Historical territory of Macedonia, geographic characteristics of the Republic of Macedonia (RM);
- 2) Outline of historical development of Macedonian territory from antiquity to the mid-20th century;
- 3) Outline of political, social, economic and cultural development of the Macedonian state in the Yugoslav federation(1944-1991);
- 4) Political development of the RM since 1991 to the present day, characteristics of the Macedonian political scene;
- 5) Population of the RM and the question of the ethnic coexistence;
- 6) Relations of the RM with the neighbouring states and its position on the international political scene;
- 7) Economic characteristics of the RM;
- 8) Cultural and natural heritage of RM;
- 9) Macedonian music and cinema.

- Lectures, home reading, class discussion.
- Assessment methods
- Prerequisites for granting the credit: regular attendance and thorough home preparation on weekly basis, participation in class discussion. Oral exam concentrates on the student’s knowledge of the subject matter and the relevant literature.
