- Course objectives
- The course focuses on position of pragmatics as a linguistic discipline with regard to semantics and grammar, on speech acts theory, discourse analysis and other related topics.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will be able to:
- describe the position of pragmatics as a linguistic discipline;
- understand the basic concepts of pragmatics (deixe, references, speech acts, implications);
- be familiar with the theory of relevance, politeness and irony;
- understand conversational analysis and discourse analysis. - Syllabus
