- Course objectives
- The objective of the course is to introduce students to valid documents that define the content of particular branches of the subject Elements of social sciences (elements of citizenship and social sciences) for various types of secondary schools, and to the particular application in school documents and individual methodical plans.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course student will be able to:
apply the knowledge obtained in theoretical didactics and psychology on secondary school teaching.
evaluate pupils/students during various kinds of presentations. - Syllabus
- 1. The concept of teaching social sciences (ZSV) on different types of secondary schools, synopses
- 2. Contents of ZSV, particular partial sciences - limits and continuity
- 3. Teaching methods in different parts of ZSV, the types of the organisation of a lesson
- 4. Special approaches, seminary style of a work, school and out-of-school projects etc.
- 5. Uniqueness of examining and evaluating of students in ZSV
- 6. The relations between ZSV and other subjects

- Teaching methods
- Individual lessons deal with particular students´ knowledge in theoretical didactics, examples are presented from high-school instruction, students work on sample situations.

examiner: PhDr. Tomáš Měšťánek
1) Knowledge of the framework of thematical units according to the current syllabus of social studies basics for grammar schools; usual division among years of four-year grammar school.
2) School educational programmes (on the basis of Framework educational programme: see: www.rvp.cz (particularly 'RVP GV').
3) New school-leaving exam according to the law no. 561/2004 Sb. (education law), § 72 - 82, § 192.
4) Teaching methods.
5) Motivation and activation of pupils.
6) Stages of teaching during a real lesson (+ time schedule of a lesson).
7) Evaluation and assessment os pupils in individual parts of Social Studies Basics (forms, advantages, disadvantages, difficulties).
8) Relations among individual parts of Social Studies Basics and other subjects.
9) In what sense is it important to understand Social Studies Basics as a "political" and "apolitical" subject?
10) How would you outline an introductory lesson (lessons) of constituent discipline of Social Studies Basics - Basics of psychology (...sociology, ...political science, ...law, ...economy, ...philosophy, (+ethics))? Possible (usual) placement into the context of teaching of Social Studies Basics, motivational viewpoints and the like). Note: Assignment is assigned so that is does not correspond with the subject of study of the examinee.
