Course objectives
A series of seminars devoted to imporatant authors, literary works, eventually genres. The attention is devoted to the most influential authors, imporatnt from the viewpoint of world literature. Students will gain an overview of the basic turning points of the literary development in this period.
Learning outcomes
Students will become familiar with the basic turning points in the development of Greek literature from the Byzantine period until today. Students will get to know certain works of Byzantine and Modern Greek literature through reading of chosen literary extracts (translation into Czech or a world language). Students will be capable of independent work with basic scholarly handbooks of Byzantology and Modern Greek studies and of searching for other information concerning these fields.
