- Course objectives
- The main aim of the course is a basic introduction into the field of rhetoric in a theoretical and practical context.
- Learning outcomes
- After having completed the class, the student is able to:
- comprehend the correlations between form and content of rhetorical texts
- apply learned rhetorical skills on his/her own
- analyse speeches and videos according to different criteria
- train independently his/her voice
- to lead and moderate conversations
- to plan and give a speech - Syllabus
- Syllabus:
- 1. Do we need rhetoric? And if yes, what kind of it?
- 2. Video analysis and evaluation of famous speeches
- 3. Voice training and elocution
- 4. Speakers presence, facial expression, gestures and body language
- 5. Techniques of presentation
- 6. Storytelling and interaction with the audience
- 7. Inclusive and exclusive manners of presentation
- 8. Moderation and handling of discussions

- Teaching methods
- This course is designed as a workshop. For this reason active participation in the lessons (excercises, simulations) is required. Therefore the course can only be accomplished with a minimum attendance of 75%.

- The seminar is going to be completed with and oral contribution (e.g. presentation, speech) at the end of the semester.
