Course objectives
The goal of the B.A. diploma thesis seminar I is to provide students with information necessary for writing their B.A. diploma thesis, to help them with the choice of the topic, with searching for bibliography, and designing structure of the B.A. diploma thesis. The diploma thesis addresses a scholarly issue at a level appropriate to the Bachelor's degree.
Learning outcomes
The student must demonstrate his/her ability to work independently in keeping with academic standards, to find relevant bibliography, to get familiar with the B.A. diploma thesis' topic, to create the structure of the B.A. diploma thesis and to present his/her results in the B.A. Diploma Thesis Seminar I.
Syllabus
  • The course consists of individual consultations with the thesis supervisor, depending on the specific demands of the degree program and Thesis´s topic, and participation at the Thesis Seminar of the Department of Classical Studies. The seminar is organized as follows: • Formal requirements of the diploma thesis. • Citations, references, issues of plagiarism. • Use of electronic full-text databases. •Instructions on how to write the thesis. • Choice of the topic of the diploma thesis. • Presentation of the thesis structure and bibliography.

Teaching methods
Lectures and discussions in the B.A. Diploma Thesis Seminar. Individual advisor-student tutorial in the choice of topic and approach to it. Presentation of the structure of the diploma thesis and bibliography in the Thesis Seminar.
Assessment methods
The advisor awards the course-unit credit for the semester on the basis of examination of particular parts of diploma-thesis and student's ability to work out the advisor's comments on it.
