- Course objectives
- The aim of the course Pedagogical Diagnostics is to acquire fundamental knowledge of pedagogical theory and practice of educational diagnostics. The students will understand the aims and methods of pedagogical diagnostics, the differences between pedagogical, psychological and pedagogical-psychological diagnostics; will be acquainted with qualitative and qualitative approaches in pedagogical diagnostics and learn the basic methods of pedagogical diagnostics.
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to: describe goals and methods of educational diagnostics; identify the differences between educational, psychological and pedagogical-psychological diagnostics; to apply basic methods of educational diagnostics.
- Syllabus
- Basic concepts (diagnostics, diagnostics, diagnosis).
- Educational diagnostics, didactic diagnostics, psychological diagnostics, pedagogic-pycological diagnostics.
- Types of pedagogical diagnostics (normative, critical, individualized, differential diagnostics, summative and formative diagnostics).
- Diagnosis process, diagnosis and its types, diagnosis as a means of pedagogical and counseling intervention.
- Diagnostic methods and their use in pedagogical practice (division of diagnostic methods, properties of diagnostic methods, quality requirements of methods); test methods - validity, reliability, standardization, standards development; projective methods.
- Observation, interview, history, questionnaires and test batteries, product and document analysis.
- Diagnosis of school maturity and eligibility for complusory education.
- Climate diagnostics of school, class, teacher and social relation.
- Family diagnosis.
- Questionnaires and test batteries aimed at understanding certain aspects of personality, diagnostics of school achievement.
- Diagnosis in choosing a career and career path (career choice).

- Teaching methods
- Lecture and seminar. Lectures are based on interpretational method and are accompanied by practical examples and demonstration of pedagogical diagnostic methods. Seminars are practically oriented, students are given the opportunity to try selected diagnostic tools.
- Assessment methods
- The course is finished by the exam. To finish the buject is required:(1) active participation in the seminar; (2) a written test aimed at verifying the knowledge resulting from the syllabus of the subject. An up-to-date list of examination questions and a information about classification are published in the ELF study system.
