Course objectives
The objective of this course (Practical Dutch III/1) and the follow up course (Practical Dutch III/2) is to reach level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This corresponds with the profiles "Zakelijk Professioneel" (PROF) en "Educatief Startbekwaam" (STRT) of the Certificate of Dutch as a Foreign Language. All basic language skills (reading, listening, speaking, writing) are practised. The focus is on vocabulary training but also grammar knowledge is repeated, extended and practised.
Learning outcomes
Reading: understanding reviews and columns, have a good understanding of literary and scientific texts
Listening: understanding complex information related to topics about everyday life or professions, understanding the essence of what is said in television programs and audio recordings
Conversations: giving information, describing, participating in discussions, negotiating
Monologues: giving presentations, formulating one's opinion
Writing: formulating one's opinion, (reacting on) personal communication, writing reports, writing reviews

Teaching methods
Intensive student-orientated seminars: writing, reading, conversation, presentations, prosody, listening and language exercises.
Assessment methods
Presence and active participation are required. The student prepares weekly assignments. The exam consists of a written part (vocabulary, grammar, writing) and an oral part.
