Course objectives
Course description: The course deals with the relationship between cinema and ideology. Our research -- based on the analysis of selected films (from Eisenstein up to the contemporary Hollywood production) -- will be focused on the way film medium can serve either implicit or explicit propaganda, and the way a political message -- hidden or manifest -- can be delivered through films. Literature: Rodowick, D. N.: The Crisis of Political Modernism, Berkeley, Los Angeles, London 1994; Solanas, Fernando - Getino, Octavio: Towards a Third Cinema, in: Movies and Methods, vol. I (Berkeley, Los Angeles, London 1984), s. 44- 64. Assessment: an essay.
