Course objectives
The subject is focused on the Caucasian languages which contain about 38 languages spoken in and around Caucasus Mountains, between Black Sea and Caspian Sea. Special attention is focused also on isolated languages of Europe, eg. Basque etc.
Syllabus
  • 1. Cultural and historical definition of the Caucasus territory. 2. Caucasian languages and their place among Languages of the World. 3. Abkhazo-Adyghian languages. 4. Nakho-Dagestanian languages. 5. Kartvelian languages. 6. Isolated languages on the territory of Europe, eg. Basque etc.
