Course objectives
Lecture will deal with the character of sexual morals and images of erotics within the framework of Czech interwar and protectorate film production. It will introduce the thematic of illegitimate sexual activities within the so-called major production and artistic ambitious project. On one hand we will concetrate on the typology of characters and the nature of social relations to which the sexual behavior is ascribed and on the other hand we will aim at the naming of ethic patterns and value structures that were presented in Czech cinematography between the WWI and WWII and during the protectorate period. At same time we will focus on represented aesthetic procedures - towards conventionalized systems of image tropes - that form imageries of love life. We will also confront film concepts and representation of sex with ideological context that is connected with technology of sex hiding/emphasizing.
