- Course objectives
- The course aims to line up an overview of the history of Czech cinema after 1945. In basic periods (various generations of FAMU, Czechoslovak new wave, so-called normalisation period, contemporary cinema, etc.), Czech cinema will be examined from the point of view of the actual government, and its place in the society. Cinema production, distribution and exhibition will be examined closely.
Main objectives:
to gain basic orientation in the history of Czech cinema after 1945;
to understand the place of the cinema in the wider social context;
to see the cinema as a complex social phenomenon, not as a sequence of aesthetically exceptional films;
