Course objectives
This course offers an introduction to various fields of film and cinematography, as well as to a basic organization of film studies. However, as every introduction is marked, this course will consciously follow one theoretical approach, i.e. that of the Wisconsin School of Neoformalism and Cognitivism, as it is presented by David Bordwell and Kristine Thompson in their book Film Art. Course objectives: deep understanding of the basic principles of film form, narrative and style, and an ability to analyze them.
