- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should be able to: understand and explain the theories of a language sign (de Saussure, Peirce, Jakobson), explain the para- and syntagmatical relationships among the (context bound) language signs and will be able to understand and interpret these relationships in a text.
- Syllabus
- Theory:
- semiotics and semantics; semantics in the philology;
- the language sign of de Saussura, Peirce and Jakobson;
- signifé x signifiant (icony, index, symbol and subcategories);
- paradigmatic and syntagmatic relationships on all levels (phonetic to text)
