Course objectives
Main objectives of the course can be summarized as follows: to explain the continuity and tendencies of Western philosophical tradition from the Antiquity up to present day. Students will get to know the basic philosophical notions and problems and they will be able to explain European cultural tradition and history of ideas in the context of philosophical thought.
Syllabus
  • 1. Basic problems of philosophy,subject of philosophy, main philosophical disciplines.
  • 2. Philosophy and problem of being. Types of solutions from Ancient Greek philosophy up to present.
  • 3. Philosophy and problem of knowledge. Types of solutions from Ancient Greek philosophy up to present.
  • 4. Philosophy and problem of man. Conception of man in historical periods of Western Philosophy. A lecture on social philosophy forms a part of the course.
