- Course objectives
- Students will become familiar with a variety of analytical mathods - due to textual analysis, symbol analysis, monologue/dialogue tendencies, actantial models; structural analysis, types of signs, and its fluctuation within performance, modern trends in the thinking of drama and theatre - postmodernism, postdramatic analysis, gender studies. All these methods will be apllied on one single play, Ibsen's Hedda Gabler (on the text as well as on its performances) in order to show the diversity of analytical approches plus the advanbtages and limits of each analytical method.

- Textual analysis - monologue/dialogue - symbols, motives - genre issue - actantial models - fictional worlds - archetypes (types of characters) Analysis of performance - structural analysis - fluctuation of sign within performance, types of sings and their use - postdramatic/postmodern approach (Ostermeier's Hedda) - analysis of individual performances (its characters, mise-en-scene)
