Course objectives
An introductory course discussing the basic questions of the linguistics especially in context of German and Germanic Languages.
There is a strong focus on terminology, enabling students to understand more advanced topics of the respective specialised courses.
Upon completion of this course, the student will have a general knowledge of the basic methodology and terminology of linguistics as well as the skills needed to adapt and apply it in more specialised contexts.

Teaching methods
In the lectures the general characteristics, terminology and methodology of the linguistics are presented. This introduction is designed as a propedeutics for the specialised linguistic courses. In the seminars the acquired skills will be practiced on natural texts, further elaborated and concretised.
