- Course objectives
- Basic georgaphical, political, social and economical characteristics of contemporary Bulgaria main habits and traditions of Bulgarian people. At the end of the course students will - be able to demonstrate the knowledge of Bulgarian history - have a broader and more solid understanding of key aspects of Bulgarian social life. - have a broader and more solid understanding of key aspects of comparative study of Bulgarian language and literature

- 1. Geography - main characteristics 2. Administative division, administrative units 3. Inhabitants, cities 4. Bulgarians and religious life 5. Political situation after 1989 6. Economical situation 7. Bulgaria and relations with neighbour countries (Romania, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey) 8. Specific features of the Bulgarian history in comparison with the Czech history 9. Cultural places of interest I (pre-Slavonic period, Thraks, Greeks, Romans, etc.) 10. Cultural places of interest II (middle age state, Byzantian ruling, Osman ruling) 11. Cultural places of interest III (19. and 20. century) 12. General repetition
