- Course objectives
- Upon completing this course students will have an understanding of the history of European colonization of North America and how this colonization has contributed to the creation of historical and cultural legacies that still dominate the relationships between America’s indigenous peoples and the majority populations of Canada, Mexico and the United States.
- Syllabus
- The course is divided into three modules: Spanish Colonization, French Colonization and Anglo-American colonization. Readings will include a general historical overview of colonization and primary period texts relating to the specific modules. The readings for this course will be available in English and either French or Spanish. Seminars and discussions will be held in Czech and English.
