Course objectives
The aim of the course is to bring student to a philosophical view of education. The course is based on interpretation of selected works by philosophers of education and continues towards students’ personal considerations of selected topics of the philosophy of educational process (e.g. human educability, relationship between an educator and an educated, an educated as a part of a community and others). The conclusion of the course is dedicated to problems of pedagogy from the point of view of philosophy of science. At the end of the course, students are able do distinguish among individual levels of pedagogical discourses and some students are able to identify a philosophical type of questioning.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
-identify the specifics of the main philosophical concepts in terms of goals, principles, curriculum, teacher-student relationship, forms and methods of teaching
- present the arguments used by the different philosophical concepts of education to defend their practices
- expertly discuss the advantages and the limits of the solutions that each philosophical concept offers for education

Teaching methods
Lectures, discussion, self-instruction
Assessment methods
Teaching takes place in the form of seminars that require active participation of each student in joint discussions. An argument for the discussion is the sources of compulsory literature, a short demonstration of works read at seminars, film demonstrations and, last but not least, the own creative contributions of students in a debate in pairs or group.
