- Course objectives
- In the course, students will familiarize themselves primarily with the basic concepts and issues of phonetics and phonology in sign languages. They will acquire the inventory of phonemes in Czech Sign Language (partially in contrast to phonemes in other sign languages), the minimal pairs method, and the principle of dual articulation in natural languages. The discussed phenomena will always be analyzed on specific linguistic material from Czech Sign Language.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, students are able to structure the lexical unit of Czech Sign Language into individual parameters. They understand the role of a phoneme in natural language and can describe it using a specific example.
