- Course objectives
- Through the vision of Italian films the course aims to help students in developing strategies of general and communicative competences and producing texts dealing with a particular theme. By means of pair-works and group activities students will also learn to express their feelings and opinions, suppositions, agreement and disagreement. Level of Language: B1 towards B2 Films on the biographies of Italian writers and poets will be taken into account. Televisive maestro Luca Passerini ("Affari tuoi") will be invited to talk during a lesson. - Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course the students will be able to: - discuss on different topics related to Italian society and culture, - manage interaction in different contexts and situations, - express their own opinions, agreement and disagreement, - talk about their experiences and dreams. - Know lives of the principal Italian writers or poets.
- Syllabus
- Each lesson will be focused on an Italian film on a biography vf an Italian writer or poet. This will result useful to illustrate issues related to Italian contemporary society, culture or history. Through guided discussion and conversation, student will be engaged in dialogues and debates aimed at the development of B1 / B2 communicative functions. At the end of the courses Students will be able -to give advices and opinions, -to explain their point of view, -to make predictions, -to speak about past events, -to tell stories. Sessions include practical activity in class for improving comprehension and production skills with a particular stress on pragmatics.
- Teaching methods
- Analysis of different Italian films based on the biography of Italian writers or poets. Analysis of the use of language in written and oral texts. Students will be asked to discuss different topics, to take part to pairs and groups works. Without minimum enrollement (three students at least) the course will be canceled.
- Assessment methods
- One PowerPoint presentation during the final exam. Once enrolled, attendance is mandatory (min. 75%).
