- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to present to the students the substance and message of the Latin and Classical Philology; it concentrate on an overview of its auxiliary disciplines; it informs about the main scholarly literature, periodicals and subsidiary instruments (dictionaries, bibliographies etc.); it provides the students with skills to search the relevant titles for the special problems of the discipline.
It provides informations about the translations of the Classical Greek and Roman Literature and about the history of the field of study, further it offers instructions for writing scholarly texts and citations conventions. - Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, students should be able to understand the aim and message of the Latin and Classical Philology; to have an overview of its auxiliary disciplines; to be well informed about the main scholarly literature, periodicals and subsidiary books (dictionaries, bibliographies etc.); to search the relevant titles for the special problems of the discipline.
The students will be informed about the translations of the Classical Greek and Roman Literature and about the history of the field of study. They will know how to write a scholarly text and how to cite scientific works according to citation conventions. - Syllabus
