- Syllabus
- Chemistry in space - based upon symmetry, based upon constitution. Inner coordinates of molecular structure - configuration and conformation. Symmetry, asymmetry, dissymmetry, and chirality - molecular and local symmetry. Stereogenicity. Isomerism and topicity in static molecular structures and in dynamic molecular structures. Timescale of experiments. Stereoisomerism of acyclic and cyclic structures. Stereoelectronic effects, especially the anomeric effect. Stereodifferentiating reactions. Principles of stereochemical methodology. Stereochemistry of penta- and hexacoordinated compounds as compared to stereochemistry of carbon compounds. Topological stereochemistry.
