Course objectives
The optional lecture for the students oriented to the mineralogy and technical mineralogy and petrology. The lecture shows the using of X-ray powder diffractometry in the practice identification and characterisation of phases. One part is provide to identification of the special groups of minerals (especially clay minerals).

  • description of the minerals structures feldspars crystallinity and its order/disorder structures reflection of garnet group minerals in powder diffraction spectrums powder diffraction records of olivine group minerals layer silicates- classification of structures, polytypy and identification clay minerals and its identification by X-ray powder diffractometry polymorfy and polytypy of minerals possibilities of powder diffraction
