- Course objectives
- In this course, we will explore various aspects of science communication - how scientists share their knowledge and experience with non-experts. We will present several key principles of effective science communication - e.g. how to appeal to various audiences; how to design visual aids; how to present statistics clearly; and how to use metaphor and narrative to explain the work and ideas of science. The students will get plenty of guided practice with these principles in class activities and presentations.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, students will have a greater awareness of important aspects of science communication, and will be well-practiced in applying them to their own research interests. Using these principles, students will be able to present their research more effectively to audiences both inside and outside of academia.

- Besides being present and actively engaged in the seminars, students must submit one written assignment and one performative assignment in genres of their choice, based on research content of their choice.
