- Course objectives
- Course reassumes basic course on bachelor level Geochemistry and is application of geochemistry principles to environmental science.
- Learning outcomes
- Students get acquinted with environmental geochemistry priciples and concepts useful at environmental problems solution. The advanced topic as (1) atmosphere geochemistry, (2) geochemistry of natural waters, (3) environmental microbiology, (4) geochemistry of organic pollutants, and (5) remediation are covered.
- Syllabus
- 1. Introduction, subject of environmental geochemistry, 2. Origin of Universe and Solar system, nucleogenesis, nuclear waste, 3. Geospheres, rock cycle, minerals and weathering, soil geochemistry, 4. Introduction to cycles of elements and components and biogeochemical cycles, 5. Water properties, its distribution and use, 6. Water geochemistry, carbonate and non-carbonate equilibria, redox potential, 7. Phase interactions, colloids, contaminats in water, 8. Microorgamisms in environment, microbial degradation of pollutants, water cleaning, 9. Atmosphere and its startification, chemical reactions in atmosphere, 10. Pollutants in atmosphere, 11. Global warming, 12. Low regulation, principles of risk analysis
