Syllabus
  • Relationship between pedology and pedogeography. partial pedological sciences, history of pedology, pedologic world schools. Definition of the pedosphere and selected soil definitions.
  • Weathering and origin of the mineral soil component. Types of the physical, chemical and biological weathering.
  • Soil as dispersion system, soil components. Classification and properties of the clay minerals. Soil water, soil air. Organic soil component. Edaphon.
  • Soil texture. Granulometrical composition. Pore - volumen and soil structure. System of the soil sorption, pH - value.
  • Pedogenesis, factors of pedogenesis (parent materials, climate, topography, organisms, time). Main pedogenetic processes. Soil profil. Soil Units of Soil Map of the World (FAO 1970, 1990). and their subdivision after various concepts. Šály's soil classification of the Czech Republic. Paleosoils and its importance.
