- Prerequisites
- NOW( Bi7170 Medical microbiology )
Necessary for subject absolution is knowledge of general and special microbiology. It is also necessary to register for Bi7170 subject in the same time (it is the lecture that is complementary to that practical education). - Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is also offered to the students of the fields other than those the course is directly associated with.
The capacity limit for the course is 32 student(s).
Current registration and enrolment status: enrolled: 0/32, only registered: 0/32, only registered with preference (fields directly associated with the programme): 0/32 - fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Cellular and Molecular Diagnostics (programme PřF, B-BI)
- General Biology (programme PřF, B-BI, specialization Microbiology)
- General Biology (programme PřF, N-BI, specialization Microbiology)
- Special Biology (programme PřF, B-EXB)
- Special Biology (programme PřF, B-EXB, specialization Mikrobiology a Molecular Biotechnology)
- Special Biology (programme PřF, N-EXB)
- Special Biology (programme PřF, N-EXB, specialization Mikrobiologie a molekulární biotechnologie)
- Course objectives
- The aim of this course is to obtain practical competences concerníng the work in a laboratory of clinical microbiology, with emphasis to the differences between clinical microbiology and other parts of microbiology.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students should be able to use and to understand basics of diagnostic medical bacteriology, mycology and parasitology, namely approaches for G+ bacteria: staphylococci, streptococci, enterococci, coryneforms, listeriae, bacilli and G- bacteria (enterobacteriae, vibria, aeromonads, campylobacters, helicobacters, pseudomonads, other G- non-fermenters, haemophili, pasteurellae, neisseriae, moraxellae, basically also legionellae, brucellae, bordetellae and francisellae); to understand basics of approaches for ananaerobic bacteria (clostridia and spore non-forming anaerobes), acid fast and partially acid fast bacteria: Mycobacterium, Actinomyces, Nocardia, spiral bacteria: genera Borrelia, Treponema and Leptospira, basic medically important yeasts, dermatophytes and other micromycetes, basic medically important protozoa, roundworms, flukes, tapeworms and arthropods; students should be able to work with information on problematics of biofilm detection (including testing of effectivity of antibiotics to biofilm); to understand indication, sampling, material transport, specimen processing, result releasing, result interpretation).
