- Includes historical background for development of modern physics and an introduction to quantum mechanics, atomic and nuclear physics.
- Syllabus
- Old quantum theory; elementary introduction to quantum physics;
- uncertainty principle, correspondence principle; one dimensional problems;
- Hydrogen atom: Balmer series; Zeeman effect;
- laser, optical pumping;
- Frank-Hertz experiment;
- determination of Planck's constant; measurement of e/m;
- radioactive decay; basic nuclear physics and nuclear reactions
