Course objectives
The aim of this course is the introducing of current trends in modern aid technology that affect the daily lives of visually impaired individuals. The individual lessons will introduce special technical aids, which are currently available on the market and which combine traditional materials with elements of modern technology. The course will also introduce its participants to the field of "aids of the future", which are currently in the development phase of experts around the world.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the participant uses a basic presentation of common and non-traditional aids for the visually impaired, will focus on the Czech and foreign markets with special aids for the visually impaired and blind and a comprehensive understanding of the use of modern technologies for the benefit of the visually impaired.

  • - trade fairs and exhibitions focused on news from the world of "special" technology
  • Introduction of selected "Hi-Tech" aids:
  • --White Cane in the light of modern technology
  • - SunuBand
  • - smart mobile applications
  • - current development trends in the field of aids for the blind and partially sighted
  • - 3D print and home-making aids for the visually impaired

Assessment methods
To successfully complete the course, it is necessary to successfully pass midterm tests from each chapter of the course during the semester plus successfully pass the final online test - this test can be taken at any time during the study of the e-course, consists of   20 questions without time limit - to successfully pass at least 12 questions correctly (60%). Test is realised through the Kahoot quiz.
