Degree programme objectives
The Bachelor's degree programme Finance provides students with basic knowledge and competences in the field of financial management, financial accounting, banking, insurance and financial markets. The aim of the study programme is to prepare graduates to work in junior and mid-level financial management, accounting, methodological and analytical positions. Students will also acquire basic and intermediate skills in economics, law, management, mathematical and statistical methods and financial mathematics. Within the scope of the common university courses, compulsory and elective courses, the learner has the opportunity to expand his/her language skills as well as his/her knowledge of natural sciences, computer science, psychology or sustainable development. After completing the Bachelor's degree programme, students can continue their studies in the Master's degree programme Finance, where they can deepen their knowledge in corporate finance or financial institutions and technologies.Study plans

- ObjectivesThe Bachelor's degree programme Finance provides students with basic knowledge and competences in the field of financial management, financial accounting, banking, insurance and financial markets. The aim of the study programme is to prepare graduates to work in junior and mid-level financial management, accounting, methodological and analytical positions. Students will also acquire basic and intermediate skills in economics, law, management, mathematical and statistical methods and financial mathematics. - Learning Outcomes
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- Acquire the principles of the functioning of business corporations in the context of the functioning of the economic and financial system.
- Understand the nature of the time value of money and its use in practice.
- Understand the logic of investment appraisal methods, financial health and the nature of financial decision-making in business corporations.
- Understand selected mechanisms and principles of banking and insurance.
- Prepare financial statements, set up an accounting algorithm, and assess the impact of accounting methods on the economic result.
- Understand the importance of the financial market in the process of resource allocation and valuation of financial instruments.
- Occupational Profiles of GraduatesGraduates will be able to work as professional staff in various departments in financial institutions and in financial and accounting departments of commercial corporations, public and multinational institutions. They can also work as analysts and traders in the capital markets, as tax advisers, auditors or consultants.
- Practical TrainingPractical training is not an obligatory part of the study plan. Students may attend a voluntary course of practical training.
- Goals of ThesesThe standard bachelor's thesis is 35-45 pages long. The guidelines for the elaboration of the bachelor thesis and further information can be found in the ESF student manual available at http://www.econ.muni.cz/zaverecna-prace.
Students choose a topic within the subject BPF_TEBP Bachelor Thesis, together with the supervisor of the thesis preparing its official assignment containing the objective of the work, the progress of the work, the methods used and the basic professional resources. Students should demonstrate their ability to work independently with relevant professional resources and their application to the chosen problem. It is expected to formulate own proposals and recommendations for solving the problem. Students can work with already published texts and data accessible for secondary analysis.
- Access to Further StudiesAfter completing the Bachelor’s degree study programme, it is possible to continue further studies in the Master’s degree study programme in Finance and Accounting or Finance.
