Degree programme objectives
The aim of the study program is to acquire the theoretical knowledge and practical skills for the performance of the relevant medical profession and to educate for the medical practice a qualified expert - a bachelor who will be entitled to perform the activities of the physiotherapist in the field of therapeutic and preventive care in the frame of therapeutic rehabilitation and other components of comprehensive rehabilitation at the corresponding workplaces both in the state and the private sector, within the scope of the competences defined in the graduate profile.A graduate of a Bachelor's degree program is qualified to work independently in the field of medical rehabilitation. For this competence, sufficient professional qualifications within the theoretical and practical components of education were created during the study. He will be able to follow the development trends in the field and to develop lifelong learning.
The Physiotherapist (bachelor) provides diagnostic, preventive and medical care in the pathophysiology of clinical disorders and disorders of the locomotor system in the field of therapeutic preventive care in healthcare facilities, spa facilities, social care institutions, rehabilitation institutes including specialized workplaces. According to the diagnosis and recommendations of the physician, based on their own examinations and patient needs, they determine optimal variants and combinations of procedures to achieve the desired goal stated in the surgery.

- Learning Outcomes
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- knows the basic theoretical and methodological knowledge from the field of rehabilitation and other medical sciences that rehabilitation relies on
- is able to explain the connections and relationships between rehabilitation and other knowledge of medical science
- can appropriately apply different approaches to rehabilitation depending on individual diagnoses
- based on the findings of the scientific methodology, they can design a simple model of rehabilitation research
- is able to reflect ethical value points and positively motivate patients during rehabilitation
- is able to argue in a methodological way and with the use of relevant knowledge in favor of selected therapeutic rehabilitation procedures in a patient with a specific diagnosis
- Occupational Profiles of GraduatesThe Physiotherapist (bachelor) provides diagnostic, preventive and medical care in the pathophysiology of clinical disorders and disorders of the locomotor system in the field of therapeutic preventive care in healthcare facilities, spa facilities, social care institutions, rehabilitation institutes including specialized workplaces. - Regulated Professions
- Physiotherapist
- Practical TrainingThe obligatory part of the program is a professional practice and according to the law the bachelor study must include at least 1 600 h. Student of the Physiotherapy program at the Faculty of Medicine MU has a total of 1,872.5 hours of practice, which consists of exercises and 12 weeks of continuous professional practice.
The teaching of practical skills of specific subjects is distributed in each year in specialized subjects.
The practical skills of the first year are focused on the teaching of investigation and treatment methods on healthy individuals - listeners. This means that in a small group the students acquire manual skills, knowledge of the techniques of investigating the systems of the locomotive system and its tissues; they also apply motion therapy, general and reflex massage, special techniques (ball training) and physical therapy. For manual experience, they work under the guidance of the teacher with the patient.
The second-year student applies the skills acquired in the first year in patients, he also practices new skills and movement therapy. He studies clinical trials, therapeutic procedures in patients and their methodical rehabilitation methods - therapeutic physical education at the patient's bed with surgical, traumatological, orthopedic, internal and neurological diseases. Furthermore, he is familiar with functional disorders in patients and treatment of functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system using "soft techniques".
The third year student applies the skills acquired in 1st and 2nd year at the patient's bed - examination of the locomotor system, kinesiological analysis, therapeutic procedures in patients. Special techniques (eg Kabat, Bobath) and their use are demonstrated at the patient's bed, the listener can be directly acquainted with the effectiveness of the treatment procedures in the indicated patients.
The bachelor will apply the practical skills of a particular disease and patient; the result of practical skills is written in case studies as part of a bachelor's thesis. In the final state examination, the practical skills must be shown before a SZZ by a commission to a particular patient.
- Goals of ThesesThe standard bachelor's thesis range from 72,000 to 90,000 characters, including the cover letter, content, index, list of literature and annotations. The bachelor thesis contains a theoretical introduction, knowledge about the pathogenesis of the disease, pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment of the disease and case report with its own physiotherapeutic procedures for a given diagnosis of the patient.
Students can work with already published texts and should demonstrate the ability to critically work with specialized texts, process concepts and theories found in them and find relevant answers to the given question.
- Access to Further StudiesAfter successful admission, the student can continue to attend the post-graduate master program of Physiotherapy at the Faculty of Medicine at MU and other universities.
