History is a guide to understanding our presence

Degree programme objectives

The program aims at a comprehensive scientific training of experts who will be able to place land and national history in a broader Central European or global context. The program emphasizes professional and methodological preparation and thematizes serious problems, which are investigated in the research at the Institute of History, Faculty of Arts, MU.

The doctoral study is clearly focused on the development of the scientific and academic potential of students, culminating in a dissertation as an independent research performance, which is based not only on the original elaboration of a selected topic, but also corresponds to adequate theoretical and methodological postulates of modern historical thinking.

In doctoral studies, students are led to independent work, which must be reflected both in their own doctoral work and in active participation in professional activities (publications, active participation in conferences and research projects).
