- Course objectives
- In this course we will be working to improve our Academic English. We will focus on reading academic texts, learning academic vocabulary, and writing short answers.
- Syllabus
- In this course we will be working to improve our Academic English. We will focus on reading academic texts, learning academic vocabulary, and writing short answers. In order to pass this course, you must do the following: - Attend Class - There will be two class meetings every week. - Participate in Forums - Each week there will be a forum with questions for you to answer. You do not have to answer every question, but you must write something every week. You should also read what other people write, and try to respond to it. - Read - Each week there will be readings on this ELF site. You should read them every week. We will be trying to read from an academic textbook in English. - Do Exercises - After each reading there will be some exercises focusing on vocabulary from the readings.
- Assessment methods
- At the end of the year, if you have done all of these things, there will be a short test. It will test you on: - Academic Vocabulary - Academic Writing - A Short Academic Written Answer.
