- Course objectives
- The course is designed for and offered to students from Masaryk University exchange partners coming to Brno on an Erasmus exchange who are interested in getting familiar with the basics of Modern Standard Arabic.
The course is designed to introduce students to the basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. At the end of the course the participants will
- master the Arabic alphabet and sound system, be able to distinguish and pronounce all Arabic sounds, and be able to apply some basic grammatical categories (person, gender of nouns and pronouns, number etc.)
- understand basic questions in interaction with a teacher or in peer interaction and comprehend very simple one-to-one conversation; (listening)
- be able to answer simple questions and participate in interactive tasks with a teacher or with their peers;(speaking)
- be able to read and comprehend very simple and short texts (both vowelled and non-vowelled) containing vocabulary and grammar structures that they have learnt; (reading)
- be able to produce very simple sentences based on vocabulary and grammar structures that they have learnt;(writing) - Literature

- Teaching methods
- The course is based on post-method (eclectic) language teaching methodology which applies various teaching methods and combines them in order to achieve effective results.
