Course objectives
This lecture in advanced and applied German language deals with one of the most outstanding Bohemian thinkers of all times: Bernard Bolzano (1781 – 1848). The so-called „Wise man from Prague“ traced back the roots of his point of view on philosophy to the very beginning of humanism and enlightenment. As a matter of fact, prosecuted and haunted for the rest of his days, the unique impact of his teaching was preserved by his students for comming generations. His yet unreleased treatise on politics was published many decades after his death. This „Utopia“ and other works will be presented by the students. Thus constituting the framework of the course, the lecturer´s inputs will reveal the contribution of Bolzano to the development of modern Czech banking system, an amazing aspect in scientific research concerning the sophisticated intellectual Bernard Bolzano.
