Course objectives
The course Principles of Economics introduces basic issues in both micro- and macroeconomics. The aim of this course is not to include complete economics.

Main objectives can be summarized as follows:

- to understand the economic way of thinking;
- to learn the most important economic terms and their practical applications;
- to be able to apply the basic economic theory to practical examples from the Czech and world economy;
- to gain a basic knowledge for other economic courses.

Assessment methods
The course has a form of a lecture. The lectures are divided into three parts (issues 1-4, 5-9, 10-13). Main emphasis is laid on a self-study.

The course is concluded by a written exam. Student can attend the exam provided that she/he hands in a seminar work in the obligatory term.

If student commits a prohibited act, such as usage of various forbidden tools, cribbing, taking out any part of the exam or any other cheating, teacher is allowed to interrupt an exam and to grade a student with F, FF or FFF according to the seriousness of the offence. Mentioned procedure relates to all the activities that are included to the final evaluation of the course (seminar work, essays, tests etc.).
