- Course objectives
- Mathematical Methods in Economics I (PMEMMI) The course presents optimisation methods applicable in economic practice, especially in management and decision making. Emphasis will be on methods of linear programming, mainly on the simplex method and dual tasks. Furthermore, methods of non-linear programming and stochastic linear programming will be explored. Students will be presented with the applications of the given methods to economy and the scope of knowledge of mathematical theories will be adjusted to meet this priority. Students should be able to use the knowledge gained both in solving various optimisation tasks in their future practice or in further stages of their study (e.g. theory of consumer utility, etc.) Within the course content, multicriteria evaluation of solution variants of the given economic problem will be explained as a separate topic. Prerequisites: Mathematics and Statistics. The new information is immediately applicable to economic practice at all levels (micro- and macroeconomic) in practically all economic specialisations. Examination form: written and oral.
