- Course objectives
- The first block stresses the stream in philosophy of science that prefers analyzing the historical procedures in philosophy and science, from which rationality and methods of cognition are derived. Special focus is given to the development of positivist philosophy. The second block concentrates on cognitive attitudes to philosophy and methodology of science, with emphasis on the processes of thinking. In the third block, the accent is placed on a detailed analysis of scientific methods (observation, description, explanation, measurement, modelling, experiment, analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction and general philosophical methods, such as phenomenology, hermeneutics, dialectics, intuitive method). The last block is devoted to the sociological approach, which analyzes the issues of distribution and consequences resulting from scientific pieces of knowledge. It also illustrates the applications of methodological procedures used in economic sciences.
