- Course objectives
- The aim is to continue in acquainting students with the theories of economic policy and to teach them how to apply the choice of suitable economic policy to achieve socioeconomic targets. The structure of the subject is as follows: Fundamental functions of the state and the market (conflicts in the targets of individual functions in the public sector, the role of the state in the economies undergoing the transformation process, the state and the market from the supranational viewpoint). Theory of fiscal policy (the theory of public expenditures, the theory of budget deficit and public debt, methods of consolidating the state deficit. The aim of monetary policy (from the viewpoint of Keynesian macroeconomics and the theory of rational expectations). The selection of a suitable combination of the monetary and fiscal policy in overcoming a depression, in ensuring stability and sustained growth, in solving a number of specific economic problems (e.g. in case of excessive deficit of the state budget, high inflation rate or unemployment rate or in case of local currency instability).
