Course objectives
Models and Forecasting of Regional Development (PRMPRR) The course aims to introduce the basic tasks and possibilities of modelling and forecasting in preparation of long-term strategies of regional development. Emphasis will be placed especially upon the selection of suitable models and forecasting of fundamental tendencies in a region's social and economic development. The practical aim of the course is to teach students how to use simple models and prognoses of regional development. Accent will be placed on: spatial interaction models, models of municipal and regional structure, regional development models, models of innovation diffusion regional prognosis of population development and of labour market, regional development scenarios, SWOT analysis of a region, issues of regional policy, land planning in the CR. Credit requirements: active participation in seminars, a seminar paper. Examination: oral.
