Prerequisites
The prerequisite for successful involvement in the course is pre-intermediate knowledge of general language which can be tested by completing a self-evaluation on-line test. In case the knowledge proves to be insufficient, it has to be acquired through individual study.

Course objectives
Language II/A is a recommended preparatory course. The prerequisite for an active participation in the course is pre-intermediate knowledge of general language which can be tested by completing a self-evaluation on-line test. The languge teaching focuses on reinforcement and improvement of general language skills (mastering grammar and expansion of vocabulary); specialized business terminology is used to a limited extent and in isolation.

  • 1. Introduction. Review of grammar. 2. Unit 1 Customers 1.1 Key vocabulary. 1.3 Direct and indirect question forms. EssGU: Unit 48 (Do you know where ...?) 3. Language Practice (pp. 8-9) Writing: Capital letters. EssGU: Unit 43 (Questions 1) 4. 1.6 Listening: Customer service EssGU: Unit 44 (Questions 2) 5. Making offers (pp. 12-13) EssGU: Unit 35 (Would you like ...? Id like ...) 6. Unit 2 Companies 2.1 Key Vocabulary. EssGU: Unit 3 (I am doing - present continuous) & Unit 4 (Are you doing? - present continuous questions) 7. Present simple and present continuous. 2.2, 2.3 3rd person singular. EssGU: Unit 5 (I do/work/like etc. - present simple), Unit 6 (I dont - present simple negative) & Unit 7 (Do you ...? - present simple questions) 8. Reading: Recruitment advert (pp. 18-19). Assessment methods (in Czech)
Seminární forma výuky. Účast na cvičení - nad 80%. Aktivní účast na seminářích - soustavná průběžná příprava, vypracování zadaných úkolů. Závěrečný test - úspěšnost nad 60%.
