- Course objectives
- The need of protection and regeneration of cultural values is naturally reflected in a wide range of human activities, in the creation of development strategies and development documents on all levels of processing and realisation.
This course enables student to obtain the basic information concerning the need, the significance, and the meaning of cultural values conservation. Individual topics deal with the question of preserving the architectural, and partially urbanistic, heritage in towns, villages and in the landscape. They are also focused on the changes of the contemporary structures or principles which it is necessary to determine and respect.
The course also provides the survey of the legislation and other documents that are important for ensuring the cultural heritage protection and monument preservation in the Czech Republic, as well as in the international context. The topics concerning the sight restoration are especially meant to be an outline of the specific characteristics of this process. They also have to show the distinctions resulting from the new utilization of the monument.
The last lectures deal with the demand for the preserving of the sight authenticity, including the place where the sight is situated. The course is also supplied by presentations (slide shows) of the cultural heritage and its regeneration. - Syllabus
