- Course objectives
- Corporate Economics I (PHNOPI) The main aim of the course is an introduction to the field of business economics, giving the basic knowledge of a company, production factors and their mutual relations. It is a follow-up to the course of Microeconomics. The content of the course covers general issues of business economics regardless of a company's affiliation to a concrete sector or industry. It acquaints students with such categories as enterprise and business economics. It clarifies the basic notions of business economics, such as corporate factors of production, legal forms of enterprise, associations of businesses and the selection of a business location. Special attention within the framework of lectures on the factors of production is paid to human performance and its influencing and remuneration. The nature of production process is also clarified. Problems connected with the acquisition of production factors and their deployment in the production process are explained with the use of production functions. The knowledge gained here is enhanced in an immediately follow-up course Corporate Economics II. Credit requirements: active participation in seminars, elaboration of an assigned seminar papers and success at tests. Examination: written and oral (the mark includes the results of activities in seminars).
