Prerequisites
This course is primarily intended for all students who wish to deepen their knowledge of some tools of the Microsoft Office.

Course objectives
At present one of preconditions for success is rapid and effective processing, which is unfeasible without using the computer technology. The aim of this course is to deepen knowledge of using basic tools of office applications and above all equalization of different level of student knowledge, acquired by means of previous study. Students will be taught to use basic applications from Microsoft Office package:
- presentation program PowerPoint
- text editor Word
- spreadsheet program Excel
At the end of this course students will be able to create presentations in PowerPoint, to use Excel for fundamental work, and to utilize Word for easier creation and modification of their own text.
Syllabus
  • Seminars:
  • 1. Net disks, electronic information sources in ESF, MU, IS MU – the most frequently used parts.
  • 2. PowerPoint – creating a presentation by means of the guide, start of the presentation (the screen picture motion, the possibility of projection), the pattern of screen picture, the colour schema, the template of draft, the distribution of screen picture.
  • 3. PowerPoint – using explained concepts for creating a presentation, the distribution change, the colour schema change, the template of draft change, copying readings from Excel, using automatic shapes, actions buttons, animation of objects on screen pictures, transitions of screen pictures, timing, summary picture, printing pictures, fundaments.
  • 4. PowerPoint – students creating their own presentation.
  • 5. Excel – basic concept, settings, number format, conditioned format, anchoring crossbars, formulas, designation of cell areas.
  • 6. Excel – inside Excel functions, absolute and relative addressing, copying of formulas.
  • 7. Excel – sorting data, filters, searching in tables, automatic orders.
  • 8. Excel – errors in formulas, graphs, data export and import, data connecting and inputting, forms.
  • 9. Word – settings, work with Windows box, spike, tabulators, bookmarks, inserted graph, tables, addresses in tables, formulas in tables.
  • 10. Word – import tables from Excel, fields, functions used in fields, styles, sections.
  • 11. Word – templates, the auto text, editor MS Equation, number of titles and pictures, outline, contents, index of headings, number of equations by means of the field SEQ.
  • 12. Word – large-scale correspondence, formatting students' own text as a preparation for seminar work.

Assessment methods
Because students are coming with different levels of knowledge in this area, it is necessary to bring their knowledge to a unified level in order to provide sufficient foundation for future utilization of computers in their subsequent studies.
This course is optional.
The teaching proceeds in computer classroom in the form of seminars.
The course is concluded by a graded credit based on creating and defending a seminar work.
Students will process the project:
- in Excel (their own design, contents of project corresponds to explained subject matter)
- in Word (their own content, using styles and other knowledge obtained in this course)
