Course objectives
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- define basic terms connected with BPM and BPMS;
- describe techniques for retrieving information about processes, for modelling processes and for optimizing processes;
- explain the concept of BPM;
- create a model and optimization of semi-complex business process.

  • Introduction to BPM – context, definitions, modeling techniques, notations, IT support
  • Block 2
  • Process modeling and optimization – information retrieving, model requirements, modeling tools, techniques and tools for optimization

  • Modeling and optimizing in teams – brown-paper session

Teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, group project, reading, discussion.
Assessment methods
Mid-term test (multiple choice + open questions), active seminar participation, final group project.

Students have to reach at least 60% in mid-term test, actively participate on seminars and on discussions and defend final group project. The final assessment consists of 25% of mid-term test, 10% of seminar activity and 65% of defence of final project.

Any copying, keeping a record of tests or carrying the tests out, using forbidden aids including any communication devices or any other breach of objectivity of the exam is regarded as a failure to meet the obligations of the subject and as a serious breach of study regulations. As a consequence, the teacher grades the student with "F" and the dean is allowed to initiate a disciplinary action, which might lead to the termination of the studies.
