- Course objectives
- The course focuses on various aspects of labour and employment policy and its socio-economic aspects. At the end of this course, students should to: • understand the general principles of the employment policy and labour market • have comprehensive knowledge on contemporary models of employment policies and their socio-economic aspects and instruments • understand the relations between education and labour markets • be able to critically discuss the tools and effects of Czech and foreign passive and active labour market policy • be aware of principles of the European labour market policy • be able to carry out analysis of labour market and discuss instruments of employment policy that can address existing challenges

- • Labour market, the role of the state in labour market • Employment policy: classification and international approaches Selected problems of labour markets: • Segmentation of the labour market. • Human capital, education and labour market • Labour discrimination, forms of discrimination, costs of discrimination. • Flexicurity • Population at risk at the labour market. Handicapped and non-qualified people, seniors and school-leavers/graduates. • Instrumets for reduction of unemployment • Labour market and employment policy in Czech Republic • Legal and financial aspects of employment policies in the Czech Republic • The EU labour market strategies and their impacts on member states

- Teaching methods
- The course takes the form of both lectures and seminars. During lectures, basic thesis and knowledge are explained which are further discussed during seminars. Presentation of students' seminar essays is a part of seminars.
- Assessment methods
- The course is concluded with an oral exam. Students are eligible to take the oral exam provided that they fulfil given conditions: 1. they pass the final test successfully (a test is regarded as successful if at least 60% of answers are correct). 2. approval and presentation of essay. Requirements (including the literature) are specified further in the interactive syllabus and the downloadable study plan before the semester starts. Important information! If students commit a prohibited act, such as using various forbidden tools, cribbing, taking out any part of the exam or any other cheating, the teacher is allowed to interrupt an exam and to grade a student with F, FF or FFF according to the seriousness of the offence. The mentioned procedure relates to all the activities that are included in the final evaluation of the course (seminar work, essays, tests etc.).
