The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The course will provide participants with a comprehensive view on the issue of municipal business in the Czech Republic. The introduction should provide an insight into how and in what municipalities do business in the Czech Republic and abroad. It should also provide a legal perspective on this issue, accounting and tax implications related to municipal business, specifics. The participant should then also learn how to implement such activities from the perspective of financial management and planning, but also from the perspective of control of economy or efficiency. The course will also include related specifics of municipal business such as the link to public budgets, the regional context, the marketing perspective or the use of more advanced analysis and management tools. The course will also provide examples from practice. Also included is a basic insight into the use of the basic decision-making method of life cycle cost (LCC), which takes into account the costs of operating an investment project (construction in nature) along with the acquisition costs.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the participant will be able to:
- identify and distinguish the basic forms and aspects of municipal entrepreneurship;
- basic knowledge and competences in the field of management and economics of municipal business;
- basic knowledge of the legal aspects of municipal business;
- basic knowledge of accounting aspects of municipal business;
- compare and distinguish differences (advantages, disadvantages) in types and forms of municipal business;
- analyze the current situation of municipal business and future prospects;
- propose a strategic plan for the development of the municipality's entrepreneurship.
